Ash’s possible diagnosis and bit scary – but dressing to do and antibiotics, etc and we await the pathology reports

There are also ulcers on his foot pads

Dec 29th

Oh what a day ---- last night’s Ash was very quiet and not too keen to eat --- this morning there is an eruption in the centre of the granulating wound

Got appointment for 10.30, only to have a flat tyre before getting to HVCC – wonderful friend of a neighbour help ed me as AA would have taken ages BUT tyre made for other side

Then the wind screen wipers ‘died’

So by 1pm Hetty and I spent some time at the garage --- tyres now in right places, and damaged one left for further investigation, repair or replacement by next week

Wipers just needed a new fuse, as it seems same had gone with all the cold weather.

Also called in to see Derrick for a coffee --- Dorothy in SW judging dogs!!!!

17.20 got Ash to see Kevan and he goes back in the morning for surgery

Georgie had his post-op check with Kevan and all goes well so far

Donna visits Nutmeg and the kittens --- think she’d like them to herself!

TWO LITTLE KITTENS

Photos taken at approx 4 days once both doing well

24th August

Sadly 3 kittens (red spotted female, black male and blue spotted female have died --- Nutmeg nursed them in her front legs and then looked to me to nurse to the end for the first 2 – the blue I took along to Kevan for euthanasia on Monday. This is the sad part of breeding, but something nature controls more than we.

Saturday August 22nd

Nutmeg fussed round me quite a lot Fri/Sat night and thank goodness for that --- she never visibly pushed, but there suddenly were the membranes and a dash to SVCC where Kevan and team performed an emergency C-section for 5 kittens: the first and largest was a transverse lie across the cervix and all would have been breech deliveries.

Any way all needed some considerable resuscitation, even so, all came home.

August 18th.

This was a very special and worrying day for us and our Little Georgie

Off we set in the morning, Georgie and Hetty in the car and drove to Joan Smith’s so she could help us find the way across Manchester and be there for ‘Mum’

We got to AMCRS and saw Dr David Crossley who already had our Vet, Kevan’s x-rays of Georgie’s jaw --- it was quickly realized that the problem had worsened and that the specialist surgery David does was very necessary and so we left little Georgie for the day!

Joan gave Mum a great lunch and then not long after 3pm we were able to go and get Georgie

(A lot of money very well spent --- but I will add a big sigh of relief for the wonders of Pet Plan!)

Once home George was quiet and enjoyed his cuddles --- he also, as you can see, wanted everybody to see his IV site yellow bandage

When Kevan saw Georgie on the 26th he was most impressed with the progress

A big thank you to Joan for all the support and advice before we went to Manchester!

August 12th 2009 --- the glorious 12th

Assumpta is 7 today --- we wonder if we shall see Tansy (her sister) again as she has been missing a year now --- and hope we might

Even so Assumpta had a nice little party and gluten free creamy cake made by the humanoid

August 9th BINGLEY

People will recall that Bracken should have been at Bingley 2 years ago for his last show when sadly he was shot and lost fur from his shoulder area

So today was to make up for that he was there once more --- and his last show in competition was indeed a great day

2009 Lilycroft year 5 poetry winners from Wharfedale competition

May 30th 2009

Unfortunately a rather obvious play scratch acquired on Friday has prevented Fortunatus making his debut at the Durham show today

It would have been silly to drive all that way just to be vetted out!

But I did get to the Church do and as not showing had an S Yorkshire friend to go with!

At home we celebrated Bracken’s 11th birthday in true Cadifee style.

March 26th 2009

Sadly my health and difficulty carrying anything just now is preventing the much looked forward show day on Saturday, so little Seamus will miss Preston & Blackpool. Sorry Heather.

By the time he is entered for another show he will be an adult --- it hardly seems possible

March 20th 2009

Fortunatus enjoys his 1st birthday party

March 14th 2009: LANCASHIRE Cat Show

Seamus was dutifully bathed on Thursday ready for the day and was not that worried about it all

Saturday saw us only taking only one wrong turning on the way to the show, and soon both boys were settled in their pens and looking good.

I had a breakfast coffee with two good friends and then walked Hetty, etc

Seamus was justifiably 2nd to his younger half-brother in the Open --- he has some other 2nd and 1 x 1st and even winning £3 in the club class behind Joan’s pretty Persian

He seemed to be winking, then once I realised he had a ‘sore looking eye’ and at the Show Manager’s advice he was checked by the Vet and an odd little bit removed from the eye which did not seem to be from anything in the pen --- life is full of mysteries, but he was happy enough and after seeing the Vet munched through most of a bowl of biscuits!

Fortunatus had a good day --- 1st, CC and BOB and 2nd in all his side classes which were good sized entries. (He too won £3)

Thanks to Sheila Hamilton for making my day once more!

Ash’s birthday

Feb 28th 2009 --- celebrated on March 1st because it’s Lent

Ash is 8 years old and was not that keen to have the photos taken until candles safely blown out!!!!

Last photo is Seamus trying to work out what is happening while guarding Bella’s toy

February 22nd 2009 --- Midland Cat Club of Ireland

It was really great to have good company for the journey, as we picked up Joan en route --- she had been called in to judge the Persian section --- its okay I only took BSHs. We stopped for coffee and luncheon and had a good trip, also stopping a night at the Travelodge in Dublin on Monday as the ferry was out of dock but not serviced satisfactorily so unsafe for passengers.

The Kilmurry Lodge Hotel in Limerick was as good as ever --- so great to only have to roll along the corridor from bedroom to ball room for the cat show --- and thanks to all the gentlemen who helped me carry the cats on show day, etc.

I was busy on the table all day --- Carmel and Ronnie had us well organised and a great luncheon was brought along as well --- traditional Irish cooking.

In the evening Chris (Keenan) and I dined on the table adjacent to the club officers and judges and had another fine meal.

In the Brown spotteds: ---

Donna was justifiably 2nd to Caroline Wren’s Porteous girl, the dam of the queen we met at Cork --- I think this made Caroline’s girl a Ch – if so congratulations

Fortunatus was quite the star getting his very 1st CC and the adult BOB

Nutmeg was a bit put out, having an accident in her carrier after vetting in --- even so she not only gained the CC and BOB but to my great joy the Grand CC as well --- her very 1st Grand class and quite a surprise top beat Ronnie’s lovely Gretel Garbo. It was good her breeder was there to see her success from the next pen where his cream boy Sliabh Nasty Nic gained CC & BOB to become a CH.

Donna keeps an eye on proceedings
