December 7th 2008 --- Cork’s 28th Championship Show

Great news --- Nutmeg had her 3rd GCCFI Ch Certificate and was also BOV BSH adult.

So once all confirmed by the GCCF & GCCFI she is now

INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION SLIABH NORTHERNIGHT (imp)

As the trophy for BOV British adult has to stay in Eire we thank the show team for letting her have her picture with it before it was packed away.

Thanks to her 3 judges:--

Mr P Siffels-Engelen SABCC! 2007

Miss J Quinlan at Cork 2007

Mrs J P Hartman at Cork 2008

Donna came 2nd in her open class, where the winner was the beautifully spotted Hoonikatz Georgia Brown --- congratulations to her and her owner/breeder Caroline Wren who now lives in the Emerald Isle.

After a busy day, Nutmeg snoozes on my skirt in the hotel room while Donna investigates RTE 1 television!

Special thanks to EVERYONE who helped by carrying cats, bags and other heavy items to and from for me at home, at the show and at the Travelodge

ULSTER 2008

A red letter day indeed!

Saturday, November 8th 2008 --- On getting back in the car on board after a night’s rest the first thing I smelt was not what I’d hoped for and certainly not the ‘purrfect’ start to a show day--- it was 7am, so straight to the Leisure Centre in Bangor and cleaning up time for Fortunatus and Nutmeg as he had sat firmly in very normal faeces and then snuggled with his grandam --- about an hour later and minus all the emergency wipes in the car, etc., grooming pads, kitchen roll and water the 3 cats were brought to the show hall by generous helpers --- once safely vetted in the vet and his assistant carried then to their pens. Thanks to you both.

I was off to table work with Jill Bunce for the large HP entry.

Then the day got better and better

Georgie gained his 3rd PC thanks to Mrs L Martin --- A Premier title is his, as Pr Gowlaren Iamgarfield, and he won two of his side classes.

Fortunatus simply had a ‘red card day’ and his BOB --- three shows and 3 BOBs at 8 months is brilliant.

This time it is thanks to Mrs Fisher

But, there was another ‘red card day’ and a third CC so Nutmeg can now claim her title as a Champion Sliabh Northernight (IMP) --- thanks to Celia Leighton

And, as said, little Seamus also had 4 rosettes from his 4 classes.

Thank you to all who helped me and my feline team for the day --- to June, Carol, Myrtle and the Ulster for a great show, workers luncheon and Sunday treat, and most of all THANK YOU to Heather and Alan for my cherished new boy

SEAMUS is here – 8-10.11.2008

When he was 8 weeks old I had a set of beautiful photos including these 2:---

We were all set for the Ulster show on Nov 8th and thanks to my very supportive friends on both sides of the Irish Sea we got there and back.

Settled in pen 32 on Saturday, was SEAMUS --- a.k.a. Sheerbliss Super Trouper (70 12a5t)

I knew he would be fantastic, but that first cuddle sealed it all. He was in a class with two boys about 3 months older than he, and Heather and I were thrilled when he won second place in the open.

End of show and his 1st photo-call --- peeping around Heather’s shoulder and with the duty vet

After the long night in the ship and drive from Birkenhead to Bradford he was very quick to be out to explore

First call in the kitchen --- ‘who are you?’ --- I promise you Bracken was watching very closely

'Hey what’s in these big boxes Heather sent with me?’

‘Time to snooze --- this rosette thing I won’ll do just now!’

‘So what does she keep in this black bag?’

‘Who or even WHAT are you? --- my silver dad has a head like me and others I know so far have long fur!’

‘You’re a Soprano --- great when I grow up I’ll be a Tenor and we can duet’

‘Found a lion I can tame --- 'parently it belongs to somebody called Hetty but she’s not here till tomorrow --- think I’ll have this lion!’

Nov. 1st 2008

Still no news of Tansy

With new meds which have been increased after 6 days to a higher dose I hope to more active now

Today a super packet arrived from SRPCC, and Carol Walker had sent our photo wins

3rd for Georgie eating out of broad bean saucepan

2nd for one of Francesdirome as small kitten --- we’ll send Rachel the rosette

2nd for photo Georgie and Hetty --- included here

Thanks for such a good surprise

Thanks to Ursula for the fun Halloween e-card yesterday --- Soprano and Georgie watched with some intrigue and tried to find the ‘witch!’

PLUS

Even more important are more thanks than I can ever say to Kath for all her care over the last 11 weeks ---

you’ve been really great, Kath & David’s door handle repair and look at other problems is also a great help

Have a really good week away both of you!

October 5th

Well Wee Georgie was not taken to the animal blessing as it was so blustery and cold --- think he knows he’s missed out --- after all he did get a special grooming, face wash etc.

I have been watching Soprano & Assumpta --- the photo tells it all --- they are suddenly snuggling together on one hanging hammock much of the time and even choosing to be together in one pent house at night --- on the few occasions the front door is used, both move across as if hoping to see Tansy – I still expect to see her at the foot of my bed every morning --- I know Our Cats has the story of a re-union after 9 years. Just wish I knew either who took her or why and more importantly that she is well cared for. She is neutered so if you read this and see her or feel you might know where she is please let us know. Assumpta is no longer as out going since Tansy disappeared.

Missing Tansy

October 3rd

Kath collected the photos and rosettes so Gavin can do a good display for people to see at tomorrow’s animal blessing service

I don’t seem able to get this left foot to work as yet!

All 4 Cavaliers re bathed and Wee Georgie topped and tailed for the event

October 1st

Nick came over and the photos are judged ready for Saturday at St Chad’s

Results will be posted on these sites after then

It was great to see Nick --- and thanks for the flowers.

To my other unexpected dog-collared visitor from the South thanks for the chocs --- dogs have been eyeing them ever since!

September 27th

The Diocesan Reader AGM in Settle was a long but good day and + George Dow very interesting for both conference and sermon

Thanks to Keith for getting me there and Jonathan for getting me home. Plus Linda Booth and team for the greet gluten free food

The election result --- well, yes one is now the Secretary to the Bradford Diocesan Readers’ Association (& so sec to the Readers’ Board) --- minutes drafted out and ready to spell check, etc., in the week.

So I have had the honour of ‘scarfing’ the three newly admitted Readers, as well as sitting between Bishop David and Fr Paul our Warden for the inspiring service.

4 newly licensed Readers for Bradford Diocese with Paul

September 25th

Well --- the pins are out and there’s a wee bit of one left in the bone where same broke --- faulty pin I guess

Mr Shanker’s team as great as ever. Glad Kath was there though!

September 20th

Well only a week to go for the next OPD and a really can’t thank people who have been around to help enough, especially Kathleen who is a tower of strength and Sue who has kept me going in more ways than just bandaging. Plus Pat & Marian and various others --- THANK YOU

The flowers from Val W are still looking good and the bouquet from Lilycroft School is truly superb

Sue got me to the Rcn meeting last week

Mary has allowed me to help advertise the animal blessing service for October

Valerie Binney got me to MASTS and took me out to luncheon --- a change of scenery and a treat

Hopefully I’ll be more mobile soon!

Oh yes, and I’ve done a bit of that famed dissertation --- but not as much as hoped!

September 19th

Still no news of Tansy --- although several people have thought they had her – sadly each time it was not to be

Mum, Soprano and her litter sister Assumpta often go towards the front door as if looking --- not a normal action in this house

Still at least we could celebrate Georgie’s birthday in true Cadifee style today thanks to Pat calling in to Morrison’s for us and staying for coffee, of course!

Georgie’s comment --- great cream in these meringue thingies ---- purrfect

STOP PRESS

The feline family will have a new member later on this year and the pet name will be Seamus

We’ll keep you in suspense now until he is here!

September 6th

Dezi is 2 years old today --- as you can see, he decided the best place for his new toy mouse was on my bed!

Georgie cuddles up with Hetty!

Missing cat update: Having hopped along to her car with the famous Zimmer, Sue very kindly took me to see a lady who thought she had had Tansy on and off for 2 – 3 days --- sadly it was not our little queen, but the most gorgeous blue silver classic tabby male with white paws and bib --- quite the best blue-silver markings I’ve ever seen. Let’s hope the lady’s advert which is now going out will find his owner --- he’d look great on the HP benches, and such a gentle temperament

September 4th 2008

Tansy’s advert is in colour in the T&A this time

A few calls – mostly letting me know about the found cats advertised --- sadly I know these are not her

One very hopeful call --- let's hope Tansy will be there tomorrow, Friday, for somebody to drive me around to see

September 1st 2008

Tansy still missing --- there have been quite a few people making contact to whom my grateful thanks ---

but so far she has not been seen

Update on missing BSH, etc.

Advert in the local Telegraph & Argus brought a few possibilities --- but sadly none proved to be Tansy

The advert will re-appear this Thursday and Friday with a colour photograph this time.

There is a lady who has found and BSH Blue in Clayton so he will be in as well; let's hope he is recognised and Tansy comes home.

Good news that all Ursula’s queens and kittens are fit and well --- all in A1 heath. We had a good chance to catch up on the telephone at the weekend.

Also spoke with Lilycroft’s new HT on the telephone and all sounds okay --- hope to get along + Zimmer next Tuesday as usual.

I am to remain NWB with the ‘Zippy Zimmer’ until next appointment on September 25th – then we’ll await next instructions

Perhaps this study really will get tidied properly among other things --- don’t hold me to that, it’s surprising what can crop up.

Sorry to miss the Erin and SABCCI ct shows, and Nidderdale dogs.

To those who have helped and are continuing to do so a very great heartfelt THANK YOU

Also to the neighbours opposite who have put up posters and delivered notices re Tansy from door to door --- thank you so much

Elizabeth 02.09.2008

August 19th 11.40 am

Have just had a telephone call from a very helpful gentleman who thinks he may have seen Tansy up in the Avenal Club area --- here’s hoping that a friend can look around and perhaps get a few more notices out in that area

August 17th

Came home from Yorkshire Clinic yesterday afternoon, BUT mobility reduced to non-weight bearing for the operated upon foot and a Zimmer frame!

Well actually 2 --- one with wheels downstairs and one without upstairs --- thank goodness for the stair lift in between

MISSING PEDIGREE CAT

British Shorthair heavily fawned black silver spotted (breed30s --- average green eye colour)

Missing possibly stolen from the upper Eskdale Rise area of Allerton

Telephone (01274) 496069 & please leave a message as same will go through to my mobile

SHE IS A HOUSE CAT AND HAS NO EXPERIENCE OF BEING OUTSIDE

Seen here in front of her dam (mother)

(Photo taken in July 2008)

Reward for safe return

August 13th 2008

Yesterday should have been celebration for Assumpta’s and Tansy’s birthday and we put their cards up in the kitchen --- however we decided to delay photos, etc., until today as there was much to do --- when I went to get Tansy, who often sleeps on my bed with her Mum, Georgie and Nutmeg, for the usual birthday Cadifee celebrations this afternoon she was not there.

I have looked everywhere and my neighbours are searching as well – so has Soprano and most of the cats keep going to stare out from the pen, but so far we’ve not seen her and we can’t understand how she has ‘disappeared’!

BINGLEY 2008

It was raining when we left home and then cleared as we drove the few miles to the show

In spite of the wet morning all went well and the clearer afternoon brought some crowds along

It was great to see friends old and new and especially the visit from Valerie & Donald Binney and Elaine & David Byrom now Elaine is back on her feet!

We had a good day

Wee Georgie claimed his 1st and BOB plus BOV Persian neuter and a posh rosette

Total 6 x 1st; 2 x 2nd

Georgie

Nutmeg had a good day too

1st and BOB

Total 5 x 1st; 1 x 2nd and 1 x 3rd

Nutmeg

The kittens looked good and Fortunatus really played to all who visitors --- Finnian slept most of the afternoon after the busy morning being judged!

They had some glory too:--

Fortunatus claimed his second 1st with BOB and Finnian was 3rd in the same open class

Fortunatus totalled 4 x 1st and 2 x 2nd

Finnian 2 x 1st 1 x 3rd and a 4th

Then came the spotted/tabby BSH trophy and this year Fortunatus brought it home

Fortunatus

The 2 kittens

A reminder these 2 lads and their litter brothers remain for sale and I shall re-advertise after my trip into hospital scheduled later this week

August 7th 2008

Two young feline gentlemen had a trip to Kevan yesterday --- so no more chance of mischief for Dezi and his son, Ennodius and they can play among the girls safely now!!!!

Think they were more upset about the lack of food all night before-hand at first --- Ennodius has bounced back 100% --- Dezi a little less energetic, but then he knows what’s gone as we all know.

The 4 Dezi and Donna kittens still for sale to good homes --- I really MUST get the advert renewed, but there seems to be so much to keep up with. Hopefully all will settle after Bingley on Sunday!

July 19th Edinburgh

A great day for the Cadifee exhibits

Georgie gained his 2nd PC

Little Fortunatus, who was only really entered as we thought he was to live in Scotland, but all that changed --- won his open and got the BOB and got 2 other good placings

Nutmeg was out star for the day with a virtual’ red card day’ --- 1st CC & BOB --- 4 more 1st and Best BSH Adult!

A big thank you to all judges, but especially Sheila Hamilton

One of our boys was celebrating his birthday, so we managed to get an extra photo call with the lord Mayor.

Durham Cat Club Silver (25th) anniversary show

Thanks to Elaine and her show team for my great day judging Household Pets --- it’s so good to be able to enjoy the cats and not worry about standards and all that!

A few weeks back Val Westerman and I had bumped into each other by the steak in Morrison’s --- as a result Val came along for her first experience as a steward and did very well ---Thanks Val for a good day’s companionship

Personal high light was Wee Georgie (a.k.a. Gowlaren Iamgarfield) who gained his 1st British PC and the BOB --- thank you to Gwen Waugh. He also won the Crystal Clear class and another and was placed quite well in the others.

We then got on with the full show report and photos for Our Cats before a calm drive home --- stopping of for refreshing drinks for humans and Hetty who made her first trip to Durham.
